Q: Can I bring an unbrella to the airshow?
Yes, small rain umbrella's are allowed to be used. Large beach type umbrella's are not allowed.
Q: Is there Handicap Parking and transportation from the parking area?
Yes there is handicap parking available and is located across the street from the airshow/flightline enterance.
Q: Is it safe (regarding the noise) for me to come with a baby?
The flying portion of the airshow will be very loud and will last for several hours. We encourage everyone to bring some type of hearing protection if possible.
Q: I am disabled, can I use a 4 wheel cart, ATV or buggy at the airshow.
Motorized wheelchairs and similar small devices are allowed but, ATV's and golf carts or similar modes of transportation are not allowed for safety reasons.
Q: I have a military ID card/flightline badge can I come out to look at the aircraft on Friday?
No. To ensure safety, only essential personnel will be allowed on the flightline for air show and military operations. We will have aircraft landing and moving on the flightline and displays being set up all day Friday in preparation for the air show. Non-essential personnel who do not normally work on the flightline or have an air show badge will be turned away by Security Forces.
Q: Can I fly my general aviation aircraft to MidAmerica airport to watch the show? UPDATED!
The Scott Air Force Base side of the airfield will be closed for any aircraft flying in that are not part of the airshow. However, Mid-America Airport on the other side of the airfield will allow aicraft to fly in on their side. If you are interested you can contact Paul at the Mid-America FBO at (618) 566-5320 to get more details.
Q: Will all the performers be flying on both days?
If we know in advance that a performer will only fly on one day, that information will be listed on the information page of that performer. At the top of the page where it says "Fly During Show:" we will note if it will just be performing one day by listing the day it will be performing.
Q: What does it mean when it says "Display Open To Public: No"?
This means the aircraft is only at the show to perform (fly), so visitors can not walk up to these aircraft.
Q: An aircraft was listed on the website but it is no longer there. Where did it go?
When an aircraft or act is confirmed we post the information on our website. However, there are times when they may have to cancel due to military operations or schedule conflicts. When this happens we remove the listing on the website to ensure we provide the most current information possible.
Q: I can't find the schedule of when each aircraft is going to fly, where is it posted?
The flying times of each performer are located HERE.
Q: Will there be ATM machines available at the Air Show? UPDATED!
There will be be no ATM machines available at the airshow this year. This is a change from what was previously reported. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Q: I have specific questions regarding security during the airshow; who can I contact?
The airshow has a specific representative from the Security Forces Squadron who is able to answer all questions. You can contact the security representative HERE.
Q: The website mentions "No smoking on the flightline." What is the flightline, and where can I smoke?
The flightline is the gated area where the hangars and aircraft are located (not the base gates). Smoking areas are posted and will be across the street from the flightline entrance.
Q: What kind of ID do we need to enter the base for the airshow?
ID is not required to enter the base or the flightline area for the airshow on the days of the air show.
Q: Will I be able to go inside the aircraft or sit in the pilots seat?
Most of the air show aircraft will be open to the public. Access to each aircraft or display is at the discretion of the crew or owner. Some aircraft such as fighters normally will allow spectators to view the cockpit, but not sit in the seats due to the ejection seats.
Q: Why is the web page not full screen?
The web page width has been set to allow individuals with a monitor resolution of 800x600 to view the page without scrolling left to right and also allow for printing without the sides being cut off.
Q: Is it safe to come to the air show?
Safety is always a primary concern at air shows. You will notice extra uniformed security presence at the air show. This consists of Air Force security forces and local law enforcement officers.
Q: If I cannot bring something into the air show, can I go out to my car during the show?
Yes. Since this show has no admission fee, you may leave and re-enter as you desire. All persons re-entering will have to go through security checkpoints again.
Q: Can I bring my camera/video camera/cell phone/scanner?
Yes! There are no restrictions on electronics. However, large camera bags will be searched thoroughly. Bring only necessary camera equipment, leaving excess equipment at home.
Q: Can I bring water, drinks or food?
Only water is allowed to be brought into the show as long as it is hand carried and are not in a cooler or carry bag. All items brought in are subject to approval by gate security personnel and a hand-search at the gate. Camelbak type water packs are allowed.
Q: Can I bring a folding chair or blankets?
Yes, folding chairs and blankets may be brought into the show, but are subject to search.
Q: I have small children. Can I bring a stroller/diaper bag/clothes change/etc.?
Yes. Strollers and wagons will be hand-searched at the gate. Please bring only necessary items in a small diaper bag. Large diaper bags may not be permitted. You can return to your vehicle during the show to retrieve extra clothes, or restock diaper items.
Q: Who is flying at this year's show?
A list of performers currently scheduled to participate in this year's show can be found on the Performer's Page.
Q: Is there shade at the air show?
Limited shade is available under the wings of some of the larger aircraft and in the large Hangar. You should plan on being in the sun most of the time during your visit to the air show. Come prepared with a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Q: If it rains will the show be canceled?
The air show will not necessarily be cancelled on account of rain. Lightning could prohibit safe air show operations and may result in temporarily suspending the air show. Flying acts will perform weather permitting. Aircraft displays and vendor booths will still be open in the event of rain.
Q: Will there be food and gift vendors at the show?
Yes, a wide range of food and gift items will be available for purchase at the air show.
Q: Are coolers allowed?
Coolers are not allowed on air show grounds for security reasons. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the air show.
Q: Are backpacks and bags permitted?
Because of security reasons, backpacks and bags are not permitted. Purses and other small bags are subject to search. Medical packs are the only exception. Camera specific backpacks and Camelbak type packs will be allowed.
Q: Is smoking permitted at the air show?
For the safety of our guests and due to the volatile nature of aircraft and fuels, smoking of any kind (cigarettes, cigars, pipes) will be permitted outside of the flightline area in designated areas only. Please ensure to dispose of butts in proper containers as they become a potential hazard to aircraft if sucked up in the engine intakes.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
No pets of any kind are allowed on air show grounds. Please leave your pets at home and do not leave your pet in your vehicle when you come into the show.
Q: Can my kids bring their bikes, skates, scooters or skateboards?
Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, and inline skates are not permitted on air show grounds.
Q: Is there any RV or tent camping allowed on the base?
No, due to security reasons there is no RV or tent camping allowed on the base for the general public.
Q: Is tailgating allowed?
Tailgating is not allowed due to security reasons.
Q: Will restroom facilities be easily accessible?
Yes. Portable restrooms will be located throughout the air show grounds.
Q: Can I take pictures or get autographs?
Yes. Many of the performers make themselves available for autographs and pictures during the show.
Q: Will it be necessary to have hearing protection?
This event will have jets that take off, land, and perform most of the day. Hearing protection should be the same as you would use at any event that will be extremely loud. Visitors to the Air Show are encouraged to bring some form of hearing protection with them.
Q: Are tents or awnings permitted?
Tents and awnings are not allowed on the flightline because they pose a hazard to aircraft engines due to the risk the wind carrying them into operating engines. The large Hangar is available to walk around in for temporary relief from the sun.
