Van's RV-8

The VHF Squadron (Veterans Having Fun) is comprised primarily of current and retired military pilots flying homebuilt experimental aircraft. All aircraft are 2 seat tandem tailwheel aircraft commonly referred to as” taildraggers”. The squadron has performed at several flyins throughout the year but Auburn has been our favorite due to the enthusiastic crowd and local support for the veterans involved in this Squadron. The average flight time per pilot exceeds 20,000 hours each with all members having flown some type of fighter aircraft prior to joining VHF.

The aircraft is a Van's RV-8; a very maneuverable, and fast homebuilt/experimental class airplane. Max speed is 220 KIAS with G loading of +6 and -3 G's. It very much feels and flies like a little fighter. Van's Aircraft Inc. has sold over 6000 kits of various designs that are very similar in size and performance.( RV-3,4,6,7,8,10, and 12 ).
