LookingGlass Corvette Club

The LookingGlass Corvette Club, formed in Highland, IL in 1976, consists of approximately 150 member families from southern Illinois and the St. Louis area. In those early years the Corvette enthusiasts had a vision to establish a club where the passion could be shared by promoting interest in Corvette ownership. Now over 30 years later the LGCC club has grown considerably and continues to grow. The early year Corvette owners and enthusiasts didn’t have any idea how far the club would evolve and all the lives that the organization would touch. This club has not only grown from gear heads working on and driving Corvettes, it has also become a very enjoyable social club. With the pride and ownership of having a Corvette brings friends together that enjoy many activities. This includes enjoying as many aspects of the Corvette community both locally and nationally.

LGCC has a big impact on local communities and charities as well. The club proudly participates in the annual Veterans Day parade in Troy, Illinois. LGCC has also participated in many Memorial Day parades too. Many club members enjoy giving their time to volunteer by displaying their Corvettes in many local community events. Each year the club adopts a local charity and proudly donates funds from the club’s reflection fund. For year 2010 the clubs favorite charities were Adopt a Platoon of Collinsville and Friends of Military Families of Scott Air Force base.

The club has also supported Toys for Tots, Ronald McDonald House, HIS Kids, and numerous local area food pantries. In 2008 the LookingGlass Corvette club participated at the Scott AFB air show for the first time with the theme being “Vets with Vettes”. Since then they have been invited to return to each annual air show.

The club participates in many events that include trips to the Black Hills, Tail of the Dragon, Corvettes on the Rockies, Texas Motor Speedway, poker runs, cruise ins/car displays, winery runs, local and national car shows, tech sessions, economy runs, weekend getaways to Branson, Eureka Springs, Chicago, Wisconsin Dells, trips to Cancun, and an annual club theme party.

The LookingGlass Corvette Club continues to grow both in member size and social responsibility. The members own a number of beautiful Corvettes ranging from very early year models of the 50’s to current models that include C6 Z06 and ZR1 supercars. Some are complete restored gems and some are used in high speed special events. And a lot of them are just every day “daily drivers”. The club’s monthly business meeting is held on the first Thursday of each month, starting at 8:00pm, at Schiappa’s Restaurant in O’Fallon.

The LookingGlass Corvette Clubs’ mission is to promote interest in Corvette ownership and operation, and to turn that enthusiasm into social activities that encourage camaraderie and lasting friendship.
